In 1863 the Beitler family owned a 24 acre farm near the junction of Low Dutch Road and the Baltimore Pike. The 1858 County map shows a “store” on the site too. On July 3, 1863 wounded soldiers were brought to the Beiler farm for treatment. According to the account of Mrs. Elizabeth Thorn, the house was filled with wounded and sick soldiers.
